Heck, we just bought it in July. We are very happy and plan on keeping it for quite some time. Last one we had for 4 years, so who knows what the future may bring.

Wow...thats quite an adventure your planning. I don't know if I'd be able to handle it with just DH and me. I don't really have any tips, I guess it'll be a learning experience as you go along. Good luck with your venture and with selling your house.

We had a Coleman Santa Fe, so it wasn't a 8'r, but no one under any circumstances would ever be able to convince me to go back. We use ours all the time, all year long and its so easy and comfortable. Some may not call it real camping...Oh well...I guess we can consider ourselves RV'rs then. No difference, we still go all the places we did with the pup and go to places where we couldn't with the pup. Its really the best of both worlds for us.

RE: What size tt towable by a 1997 Ford Explorer?
We know someone who pulls a 25 ft'r with theirs. He says it does fine, but just looking at that combo would scare me. The trailer is just so much larger than that vehicle.

We loved our pup for many years and made great memories in it. It really comes down to how you like to camp and what meets your families needs. We are spoiled and love our full bathroom, big slide out and lots of kitchen counter space. What really got old was the set up, making those crazy bed ends, as we hate sleeping bags, packing food inside large plastic storage boxes, dragging huge coolers everywhere, always having to buy ice, and more. Its just so much more work. One other biggie is the price of these things. Some are up to $20,000. FOR A TENT on wheels. How can anyone justify that! I would never go back...

I 've left mine in at times for awhile over the years,nothing happened to it...but now in the state of PA.it is ILLEGAL to leave it in the reciever if not pulling a trailer,and they will fine you for it....(Don't get me started!!!!!)Anyway that gives me motivation enough to always pull it out when not in use.Wow, that is interesting to know, as we are heading out there next summer. Just wondering if we would get fined if caught, or just a warned as we are from out of state...you know, not knowing that we couldn't leave it in. Thats weird...we always leave ours in while driving around when were camping. I wonder what other states its illegal in?

I was somewhere in Louisiana, traveling from Fla back to AZ. Went into a truck stop and saw the coverage on tv as it was happening. I thought for a moment that it was a movie that was on. It was just unbelievable. I really don't remember much of the ride back home. I was dazed the entire way...I still am when I see footage of it. Its a day none of us will forget...ever.

I've seen one. The stairs are very narrow and steep and theres nothing to hold on to on the way down. Great for the younger kids though.

Gez, why get a unit that old that's "new" when all these wholesaler's have factory fresh "new" units for 35% OFF MSRP without a haggle...........In my case, I am extremely sensitive to the fumes in a "Just off the line" New unit. I can barely get through the door without severe asthmatic symptoms. Its the floorplan we wanted, the fumes are gone, its still new and under full warranty, we got a fantastic trade-in value on our old one and more than 35% off MSRP. thats why.
